Though you may have heard of these names, have you ever heard of the gruesome details of their cases? Though these are stories of nightmares, unfortunately, they are all true. Here are some of the scariest serial killers of all time.
John Wayne Gacy
Gacy’s number of killings are insane. He killed 33 teenage boys (at the very least) and 26 of them were buried in his home. All of the boys were tortured and sexually assaulted. He was convicted to death row and spent his remaining time in prison until his execution. The scariest part? Gacy used to work as a clown for children’s parties and entertainment. He even drew creepy clown self portraits, and they are on display at the Hollywood Museum of Death.
Ramirez had quite the cult following of groupies after his conviction, due in part to his good looks and he thought of himself as The Devil. Ramirez was a drug addict and burglar, and he said his killings were in the name of Lucifer. He used many different forms of weaponery to kill, unlike most serial killers where they have patterns of the same killing tools. Ramirez has been most famously depicted in American Horror Story: Hotel.
The famous cannibalistic serial killer. Contrary to popular belief, he actually didn’t want his victims to die. He enjoyed the torture and sexual abuse towards them, and even found a terrifying way to keep them alive. He would drill a hole into their skulls and fill the hole with acid, putting his victims in a zombified state so he could do as he pleased with them. He says he loved his victims so much, he had to eat them.
The Zodiac Killer
The Zodiac Killer is still on the run to this day. He committed multiple murders across California’s Bay Area from the 1960’s to the 1970’s. The scariest part about all of this is that he would sent cryptic letters to the newspapers and police stations, stating if they could depict his secret codes, his identity would be revealed to them. To this day, no one could unlock the secret codes he had written. They are in a made up language, and police still offer a $1 million reward to anyone that can decode the letters. The Zodiac only had one person survive his torments, and he was described as wearing a long black hood with a sniper symbol on it, and he resembled a medieval executioner.
